As of 3:30 pm today, Isabel has been off of the ventilator for 48 hours. YEAH! We held a ventilator removal celebration! An additional celebration-her room is less crowded!
Isabel was tracking with her eyes while Rick moved a rubber glove "chicken" back and forth accompanied by the proper "bawk bawk ". Rick was holding her left hand in an "arm wrestling" position and she was resisting quite a bit, but he still won the dozen or so games we played. She is tired now and resting comfortable.
Yesterday, we toured three excellent rehab centers around town, one of which Isabel will be going to next. A care conference will be held this coming week at St. Joseph's.
Prayer:
- Discernment for choosing the most appropriate rehabilitation facility for Isabel's long-term recovery.
- Isabel will continue to increase her awareness of her environment and her ability to respond-it's so fun to see her waking up!
- Isabel will manage her own saliva and get the trach removed.
- We thank you for your prayers and the different ways you are caring for Isabel and the Wimmer-Brown Family.
