From Rick & Mary

" Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name." Psalm 103:1

  • Isabel has completed day two of therapy (as of Friday) and continues to improve.  She is doing the therapy in wheel chair, which is great to see her out of her bed.
  • Friday evening, Isabel played the card game "War" with Mary and Isabel won.  Isabel would take a card from me turn it over and push the cards to Mary if Mary won or Isabel would pick up the cards if she won.  Isabel would straighten the newly acquired cards as she added them to her "winning" stack.
  • Mary noticed Isabel was trying to form a word with her lips.  So I (Rick) asked if she could say "O".  She did very faintly.  This was the first sound she made since her stroke.  I asked her if I could do an experiment where I would cover her trach while she tried to say it again.  She did this time with full "Isabel" voice.  It was so beautiful to hear.  She then repeat several vowel sounds and said "Hi" and "Mama".  We were praising God for this miracle.
  • Today, it was a day off from therapy.  She continued to amaze us with her ability to repeat the names all of her siblings and the names of the McDonald family.  Mary would spell out words with Scrabble letters, where Isabel would read them out loud.  Isabel picked out the letters to her name and arranged them.  Later in the evening, Isabel counted to ten by herself upon requested and is starting to move her right arm and hand slightly.
  • Isabel played a joke on Lindi.
  • Tomorrow Isabel starts back with three hours of therapy.
It is such a honor and so humbling to be a part of God's work here,
Rick
